DETROIT MISSION TRIP

Wednesday, June 19 - Sunday, June 23

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 15

Is God calling you to join people from West Campus, City Church and Iglesia de la Ciudad to minister to neighbors in need this June?

Our team will be hosted by the Hesed Community Church ministry of the Urban Apostolic Network, led by Pastors Nate Bull and Mark VanAndel. We will travel to Detroit to experience the context and meet the people in which Hesed Community Church operates on a daily basis. We will do this learning through conversations, experiences, meals and service over four days. We'll engage in remodeling a house used for Hesed's ministry and participate with Nate Bull in some street ministry outreach. Neither construction skills nor outreach experience are required, just a willingness to learn and to be used by the Lord. Take advantage of this great opportunity to serve neighbors in need and learn about God’s mission and Kingdom with our ministry partners across the state.

The Urban Apostolic Network (UAN) is a network of churches and ministers who are called to partner together to see the Kingdom of God established in inner cities around the world. The desire is to build a lasting Reformed legacy in the cities they feel called to. The Network exists to advance the Kingdom of God through a relational network of Sunday gatherings, house churches, agencies, businesses and organizations. It is currently operating in Benton Harbor, Kalamazoo and in three neighborhoods in Detroit (Brightmoor, Morningside and Highland Park). For more information about the UAN and Hesed Community Church, please explore their website below.

Location & Travel

We will carpool to Detroit on Wednesday evening (exact departure time TBD). We anticipate staying in a ministry house located in the Highland Park/Piety Hill neighborhood and/or a church located in another neighborhood, and we will minister primarily in the Highland Park neighborhood.

Who May Participate

Any professing Christian or seeker (someone exploring the Christian faith) ages 12 and up is welcome to apply for the trip. We are encouraging entire families to participate, and exceptions may be made to the minimum age for participants accompanied by parents. Experience and skills are not required but will certainly be helpful.

Cost

$350  (These funds are due by June 9 and will help cover our food, materials costs for the remodeling, and a donation toward upkeep and utilities costs for the ministry house we will stay in.)  We will raise some of these funds via group fundraisers; we will gladly help you raise the rest through personal appeals to potential ministry partners who would desire to contribute to your financial support need.

Commitment / Expectations

You will be expected to participate in the group fund-raising efforts as well as to attend the training and informational meetings before the trip. You’ll also be expected to do daily personal devotions during the trip, participate in all required trip activities, and humbly submit to the trip leadership regarding direction and decisions.
